For both my magazine front cover and content pages, I will utilise media language to produce a brand identity modern sophistication to appeal to the target demographics of a culturally civilised 16-25 class AB demographics further mirroring the industry context desired by Bauer Media which is ‘relentlessly relevant to the communities we inspire and connect with.’ In today’s advanced and highly competitive world, I need to ensure that the magazine fulfills Bauer Media’s requirements to attain the number one conglomerate in publishing. To achieve this, I will promote a subtle and neutral colour palette (appropriate to both the spring and summer fashion trends) on both front covers alongside the contents page with accents of purple which correlates well with the brand name ‘Viola’ due to being inspired by the Italian lifestyle. The main cover images will be central, focusing on the female model on both magazines, a more recent trend that is sometimes used in Vogue which is the magazine that has inspired me to develop and design a product suitable for the female target population. In terms of representation, one of my covers will demonstrate a Turkish woman in her early 20’s as the focal point, whereas my other cover will illustrate an Albanian woman in her late teens to display not only the diversity that is expected within the brief, but to also demonstrate the significance of female empowerment. On each front cover the models presented both directly address the audience by looking towards the camera, adopting a confident friendly mode of address – this is both inspirational and relatable to the target audience who would want to see females presented in an influential and dominant manner rather than passive and reserved. The cover lines will relate to articles about fashion, beauty and lifestyle, reinforcing consumerist message also appropriate to the industry context. My intentions with the cover lines is to attract my target audience in conjunction with educating and entertaining them about the relevant and contemporary issues that are associated with in today’s society. Productions such as the #FindYourselfBeYourself prompted by the Viola industry was influenced with the #MeToo campaign encouraged by Harvey Weinstein permitting females activists to stand up for women’s right and gain justice. Both content pages will include typical features covering fashion, beauty and lifestyle with a variety of picture which corresponds well with the sub section. For my website, I will ensure to follow the required media language codes and conventions including the title and images representing my stories, alongside a menu bar which will lead my audience to links they desire. My menu bar (located at the top of the website) will have links to ‘fashion’ ‘beauty’ ‘lifestyle’ which enables the audience to have an easy access tool bar. Furthermore, my website will feature social media accounts such as Instagram which is perfect for showcasing recent updates. The use of a social media presence gives the website interactivity and allows readers of the website an opportunity to present feedback, offer critiques and suggest ideas. A media artifact must have a highly appropriate and stable brand image across products, which demonstrates and highlights the significance that both of the magazine and web page is intended to satisfy the audience. Although I have chosen to use different models from different ethnic background, the use of the same logo and fonts are considered in both magazines and website. The significance of using the same typeface in all my products is iconic because the audience is able to recognise it with a quick glance.
